Dear Hawes Families,
As we close another wonderful school year, I want to extend my sincere gratitude for your partnership, support, and trust. Together, we have celebrated successes, navigated challenges, and created meaningful learning experiences for our students.
Please join me in thanking the following staff who are moving on to new opportunities and adventures - Mr. Penny, Mrs. Raza, Mrs. Groscost, Mrs. Ogas, Mrs. Meza, and Mrs. Alvarado, Each has made a meaningful contribution to our school community, supporting students, families, and colleagues with dedication and care. We are grateful for their time, talent, and heart they shared with us.
Thank you for sharing your children with us each day. Their growth, kindness, resilience, and achievements are a reflection of the strong partnership between home and school. We are grateful for our incredible Hawes community and the many ways you support our students, staff, and school.
As we begin planning for the 2026-2027 school year, we would like to share information about our student placement process.
At Hawes, we do not accept parent requests for specific teachers. We understand that every family wants the best for their child, and we appreciate the trust you place in us. Our highly qualified educators know our students well and work collaboratively to create balanced classrooms that support the success of every Hawes Hawk.
Class placements are carefully developed using multiple factors, including academic needs, learning styles, student relationships, services and supports, language needs, and overall class balance. Students receiving specialized services or supports are thoughtfully distributed across classrooms whenever possible, while some instructional programs, such as English Learner and GATE services, may require students to be clustered to best meet their educational needs.
Combination classes are designed intentionally and provide meaningful opportunities for growth, leadership, and personalized learning. Students in combination classes continue to participate with their grade-level peers during recess, lunch, assemblies, field trips, and other school activities.
At Hawes, we believe students benefit from learning alongside peers with diverse strengths, talents, and needs. Balanced classrooms help prepare children for the real world by fostering collaboration, empathy, resilience, and problem-solving skills.
Most importantly, every Hawes classroom is led by dedicated professionals committed to helping students learn, grow, and thrive. We respectfully ask families to trust the placement process and the expertise of our staff as we work to create the best possible learning environment for all students. Trust the process. Trust the professionals. Trust that every Hawes Hawk will soar.
On behalf of the entire Hawes staff, we wish you a safe, restful, and joyful summer filled with special moments with family and friends.
Warmly,
Dr. Fran Hansell
