As we near the end of this school year, we appreciate your support in reminding your child about staying focused and respectful with all adults, at all times. There are a lot of fun end of year events and we want to ensure that everyone gets to participate and enjoy the fun.

I want to thank our amazing PTSA under the leadership of President Kristen Hardin. It has been a truly wondrous year of so many engaging programs, assemblies, and opportunities for our Hawks. I thank you all for your membership in the PTSA and all the ongoing support from you all.

School Library: This will be the last week that our students will visit the library this school year. Our library will close on Friday in order to check in and account for all of the library books. Please be sure to return any books that are checked out!

You can now purchase BIRTHDAY and HALF-BIRTHDAY marquee messages for the 2026-2027 upcoming school year. Please read all the following details carefully to avoid unmet birthday announcement expectations! Please note that all messages must be purchased in advance according to the following deadlines:

If your child has a birthday in September 2026, you must purchase the birthday and/or half-birthday marquee orders BEFORE school is out on June 17th, 2026!

If your child has a birthday in October 2026, you must purchase the birthday and/or half-birthday no later than Friday, September 25th, 2026 after we return to school.

If your child has a birthday November 2026-June 2027, you must purchase the birthday or half-birthday marquee orders no later than Friday, October 16th, 2026 after we return to school.

Birthday messages are displayed for ONE WEEK. The marquee goes live on the Friday evening before your child's birthday week and remains visible for the entire week.

If a birthday falls during a week when school is closed (e.g. Winter Break/Spring Break), the message will be posted the week before break begins.

Arrival time no earlier than 8:15 am! Please do not drop off your child early at the front gate or through the valet line, as there is no supervision until 8:15am. Thank you!

Absent? Please contact the office We encourage you to plan your trips over the scheduled breaks. Please make plans for day trips to Disneyland etc. for the weekend. We all understand how difficult it is when we are absent from work and the same holds true for students.

If your child is absent from school, please report this absence by emailing: Hawesattendance@hbcsd.us or calling the school office at : 714.963.8302 then press 1. THANK YOU for doing all you can to bring your child to school every day and to minimize the amount of time they are absent due to vacations etc. We appreciate you taking trips during non-student days whenever possible.

Independent Study Contracts: Last day to complete an ISC is May 29! If your child is going to be absent from school due to vacation/or travel for four (4) or more days, please contact the school office to request an Independent Study Contract. Please understand that we need at least two weeks prior to the start date of the absence in order to prepare materials. Here are some key points to remember:

Inclement Weather Dismissal: All gates will be opened (back gate, TK/K gate, and front library gate). Students are picked up from the classrooms. ONLY ESN 3-5 class may enter through the front office due to mobility issues of some students and being an interior classroom. These parents may park in the valet line and enter through the office. NO OTHER PARENTS ARE ALLOWED TO WALK THROUGH OFFICE TO PICK UP SIBLINGS, RATHER THEY WALK OUTSIDE TO PICK UP THROUGH THE GATES. (If a child is in K and there are older siblings to be picked up, please exit to the front of school and walk through the library gate, not through the front office.) This will be added to the Handbook. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
