Spring is in the Air!

Dear Hawes Families,

It was a great evening at the Harborside Ballroom for the amazing annual Hawes Spring Fling! Many thanks to April Bassett and all her leadership in making this event a HUGE success! And to Hawes PTSA for all your help and many hours in ensuring the evening was a lot of fun for everyone! We look forward to hearing what the final $ amount was for the fundraising effort. I know your generosity will pay off and our Hawks will once again be the recipients of great programs, assemblies, and support for teachers in the coming year. Thanks to everyone who came and/or supported the event!

On behalf of Teacher Mrs. Helen Tran @ Sowers, we are proud to announce that it is a really great year for Hawes alumni! For the first time, the main lead in 'Alice in Wonderland' was given to a 6th grader, Hannah Pawlowicz, who was a 5th grader at Hawes last year, and will play the role of Alice! A lot of Hawes now 6th graders received leads as well, which is uncommon. We are proud of them and their hard work!

Don't forget this coming week is a celebration of Earth Week. Your child is in for a treat as they visit a PTSA sponsored 'Used Book Fair.' Portable 31 has been transformed into a 'Secret Garden' full of books for all Hawks to choose from. Thanks again to our amazing PTSA! Please have your child dress up in blue and green this week (sponsored by our student council and Mrs. DeStefano, and Mrs. Rocha.)

In Partnership Always,

Dr. Fran Hansell

A Message From Hawes ‘Y’ and Director Matthew Pellet

All-Inclusive Summer Adventure Awaits at the YMCA!

Our 2026 Summer Day Camp is designed as an All-Inclusive Pass to discovery, growth, friendship building and high-energy excitement.

  • Weekly Skill-Building Clubs: From artistic innovation to engineering, our "club" style blocks allow campers to dive deep into specific interests and develop real-world talents.
  • STEM & Strategic Thinking: Whether they are participating in "Code Quests" or "The Great Build Off," your child will engage in daily hands-on STEM challenges.
  • Leadership Development & Service Learning: We empower our campers to lead! Through our service learning projects, kids gain "social agency" by giving back to their local community.
  • Weekly Championships: Every Friday, we celebrate our progress with "Playoff" challenges to make your child shine.

Field trips and ten themes all summer long! Space is limited and filling fast!

PBIS Ready to Learn

Testing season is approaching, and it's a great time to remind our students about one of our Hawes PBIS expectations: Ready to Learn.

Students do their best thinking when they come to school well rested, nourished, and on time. These small routines make a big difference in helping children feel confident and prepared.

Thank you for your partnership in supporting our Hawes Hawks as they continue to SOAR.
