Be Hawesome

Dear Hawes Families,

Intent to Return to Hawes Survey
Please take the time to complete the survey if you have not already done so. The link is included here for returning TK-5 students. Please click on the link below if your child will be in this grade band for the 2026-2027 school year.

Intent to Attend HBCSD Middle Schools
Please take the time to complete the survey if you have not already done so. This survey is for current grade 5 families to complete as a courtesy for our middle school enrollments. Thank you if you have already completed this survey!

Testing Season: We will be starting the state CAASPP testing for grades 3-5 from 4/20/26-5/29/26. For the first time this year, students in K-2 will be taking the state reading screener 'Multitudes'. We appreciate you making sure your student attends school every day, on time, and well rested and fed, so they can have the best possible opportunity to test well and celebrate all they have learned this year.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Enrollment is currently open for the 2026–27 school year. Please pass on the news to your neighbors and friends. Hawes remains committed to providing a Hawesome TK experience at our amazing school and we need to have an accurate count of who has registered as we begin our season of staffing! Please come into the school office and our office manager Mrs. Brown, and the office staff will be able to assist you in getting your child registered as soon as possible. Thank you for your attention to this priority.

Report Cards will be coming home on Friday 3/20/26. Please take the time to go through them with your child. It is important to celebrate all the progress and to help students understand we are proud of their effort and hard work.

In Partnership Always,

Dr. Fran Hansell

A Message From Hawes ‘Y’ and Director Matthew Pellet

All-Inclusive Summer Adventure Awaits at the YMCA!

Our 2026 Summer Day Camp is designed as an All-Inclusive Pass to discovery, growth, friendship building and high-energy excitement.

  • Weekly Skill-Building Clubs: From artistic innovation to engineering, our "club" style blocks allow campers to dive deep into specific interests and develop real-world talents.
  • STEM & Strategic Thinking: Whether they are participating in "Code Quests" or "The Great Build Off," your child will engage in daily hands-on STEM challenges.
  • Leadership Development & Service Learning: We empower our campers to lead! Through our service learning projects, kids gain "social agency" by giving back to their local community.
  • Weekly Championships: Every Friday, we celebrate our progress with "Playoff" challenges to make your child shine.

Field trips and ten themes all summer long! Space is limited and filling fast!

PBIS Positive Behavior Update - Guidelines for equipment at school.

As part of our PBIS focus on Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness, was ask that students leave toys, recess equipments (including balls), and personal items at home unless requested by the teacher. These items can sometimes cause distractions or disagreements during recess.

Recess equipment, such as balls, is shared school equipment and not owned by who gets the ball first. We have plenty available for the games allowed during recess, and sharing helps everyone have a chance to play.

Thank you for reinforcing these expectations at home as we continue teaching students to show respect, kindness, inclusion on our playgrounds, and helping us keep Hawes a safe and positive place for all students.
