Be Hawesome

Dear Hawes Families,

Thank you for supporting the PTSA Movie Night last Friday. The event was well attended and a special thank you to Mr. Wilson for setting up the jumbo screen. Also - special thanks to all the volunteers who helped out planning, preparing, and helping at the event. We had a lot of Hawes alumni students doing Community Service hours by serving popcorn, pizza, and helping to keep students safe on campus with their families. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the evening, once the wind died down. We appreciate everyone who came out in support.

Intent to Return to Hawes Surveys will be coming out this week - Please take the time to complete them so we have an accurate enrollment for next school year. The link is included here for returning K to grade 4 students. Please click on the link below if your child will be in this grade band for the 2026-2027 school year.
A separate survey will be sent out to TK families, and to grade 5 families tomorrow, as a courtesy for our middles schools. We will be sending out all the surveys until we get 100% response. Thanks for getting this done as soon as you can!

Arrival at school: Thank you for driving safely at all times in the neighborhood by school. Please remember there is no left turn into the parking lot at Arrival ... you need to be entering from Bushard side of the school and making a right turn into the parking lot. Thank you for making this a priority.

Testing Season: We will be completing the ELPAC test for our English Learners in K-2. We are also completing the STAR assessment this week in grades K-5. We will be starting the state CAASPP testing for grades 3-5 from 4/20/26-5/29/26. We appreciate you making sure your student attends school every day, on time, and well rested and fed, so they can have the best possible opportunity to test well and celebrate all they have learned this year.

Bike Riders: Please remind your child to walk their bikes on campus and across the park. There are many children and families hanging out after school, and this courtesy will prevent any collisions before they occur. Thank you!

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Enrollment is currently open for the 2026–27 school year. Please pass on the news to your neighbors and friends. Hawes remains committed to providing an Hawesome TK experience at our amazing school and we need to have an accurate count of who has registered as we begin our season of staffing! Please come into the school office and our office manager Mrs. Brown, and the office staff will be able to assist you in getting your child registered as soon as possible.

Lost & Found items will be sent to a local charity 4/3/26. There are about 30 beautiful jackets etc. that are waiting to be picked up. Thank you in advance for reminding your child to be responsible with their belongings.

In Partnership Always,

Dr. Hansell

PBIS Positive Behavior Update - Inclusion at Recess!

As we continue to enjoy the beautiful weather and outdoor recess, we're reminding students that recess is a time for fresh air, movement, and fun together. There are no winners or losers at recess - just opportunities to play, include others, and enjoy time outside.

We encourage families to remind children about the importance of including everyone, showing kindness, and treating one another with respect while they play. A friendly invitation to join a game can make a big difference in someone's day.

Thank you for partnering with us to help our students build a positive and welcoming playground for us all.
