Strong Attendance, Strong Community!

Dear Hawes Families,

Thank you for your continued commitment to student attendance. When children are present at school, they build routines, relationships, and confidence - and every day truly makes a difference. Congrats to Mrs. Chalabian TK class - they chose to have Dr. Hansell come in and read a story - YAY!

Be sure to mark your calendar for Hawes Hawks Chorus presenting 'Finding Nemo' on 2/5/26 @ 4pm in the lunch area. It's free admission! Many thanks to our amazing Choir Director Mrs. Girardet.

Thanks to PTSA for providing pizza school-wide last Friday. And for providing volunteer helpers to help serve the pizza. What a joy it was to witness many Hawks thanking the parents for the treat. Lots of SOAR - /S/ as in Showing respect was evidenced.

Lost & Found is piling up again. With no names in clothing, it is impossible to return items to students. Please remind your child - if they brought a jacket/water bottle/cap/sweater to school, they must take it home! Thanks for your support with SOAR - /O/ Owning Their Actions!

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 8th-grade Enrollment for the 2026–27 school year opens Friday, February 13, 2026, at 9:00 AM for new students joining Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD).

Families with young learners are invited to attend a Virtual Early Childhood Education Information Meeting to learn more about Preschool, TK, and Kindergarten enrollment requirements, immunizations and get questions answered:
  • English: February 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM
  • Spanish: February 19, 2026, at 9:00 AM
Families are encouraged to visit the Enrollment website to review required documents and enrollment steps. Please note that enrollment is not official until all required documentation has been submitted and verified by the school, and students may not attend until the process is complete. Enrollment is for new students only. Returning HBCSD students will complete Data Confirmation in August.

THANK YOU for doing all you can to bring your child to school every day and to minimize the amount of time they are absent due to vacations etc. We appreciate you taking trips during non-student days whenever possible.

Independent Study Contracts If your child is going to be absent from school due to vacation/or travel for four (4) or more days, please contact the school office to request an Independent Study Contract. Please understand that we need at least two weeks prior to the start date of the absence in order to prepare materials. Here are some key points to remember:
