Thank You

Dear Hawes Families,

As we move through the year, I want to thank you for the commitment you've shown to your children's learning and to our shared goals as a school community. This year, we are aiming for a School-wide attendance rate of 98%, and we truly believe we can get there together.

Every day matters. When students are in school consistently, they build stronger academic foundations, deeper friendships, and a sense of confidence that comes from being part of the daily rhythm of learning. On the other hand, chronic absenteeism continues to be a real challenge across the state and impacts student progress in every area.

To help your child's success:
  • Please schedule medical and personal appointments outside the school day whenever possible.
  • Plan family vacations and travel on non-school days so students don't miss valuable classroom time.
  • If your child must be absent, please notify the office promptly so we can provide support as needed.
  • We appreciate your partnership in making every day count. Strong attendance is one of the most powerful ways families can support student growth - and your commitment makes a tremendous difference.
Thank you for helping our Hawes Hawks SOAR!

Here are the Month 3 attendance rates by class:
TK Raza 96.53%, Groscost 96.3%, Chalabian 94.2%
K Steele 96.11%, Largey 92.09%
Grade 1 Wilfert 97.39%, Arsenault 96.99%, Cook 95.83%
Grade 2 Cook 98.18%, Nesmith 97.86%, Zeutzius 95.07%
Grade 3 Adams 97.28%, Volk 97.08%
Grade 4 Garton 98.5%, Tucker 97.48%, Borns 96.96%
Grade 5 DeStefano 96.09%, Rocha 96%, Zankich 95.46%
Congrats to Mrs. Garton's class for earning 10 minutes of extra recess with Dr. Hansell for having the highest % for Month 3!

Arrival: Please remember we ask you not to drop off your child before 8:15 am when supervision starts. We are noticing more and more students arriving early. We appreciate you honoring this safety requirement. Thank you!

Hawes is looking to update the marquee and get a front facing one on school building (so we can remove the outdated stand-alone). If any of you know of a local business that might want to partner with us to make this a reality, please contact Dr. Hansell. Thank you in advance!

Here's to a great last ten days of school in 2025. Thanks for all our support!

In Partnership Always,

Dr. Fran Hansell
