Thank You

Dear Hawes Families,

Thank you to our veterans for your courage, sacrifice, and service to our country. We are also grateful to our Superintendent Winston, Board members, families and community, for joining us last Monday in honoring these heroes. It was a meaningful day of reflection and pride for our entire Hawes community. Special thanks to our staff and students who entertained with pride and to the committee for their planning - Noemi Daniels for the balloons, Amy Arsenault, Christine Zeutzius, Sara Adams, Jenny Cook, Christine Wilfert, Susan Oakes, Jen DeStefano, and Gail Rocha. Thanks to our amazing music teachers James Cahill, and Rachel Girardet for their time and talent with the students.

Thanks to valet helpers: when we were shorthanded - Kira Babb, and Michell Haller.

Thanks to make-up picture day parent helpers: Brittney Ramirez, Amber Spencer, and Mary Wilson.

Thank you to all the families donating to PTSA. Mrs. Adams class (siblings in Mrs. Rocha and Mrs. Steele's classes) won the honor of hosting Hawk Stuffie this week with the only two donations to the school! Please continue to donate what you can to help Hawes PTSA reach their fundraising goal this year. We appreciate you all!

FIRST TRIMESTER
  • November 21 - Western Day (wear your boots, hats, etc.)
  • December 19 - Pajama Day (wear your favorite cozy PJ's)

Thank you for reinforcing the SOAR (Show Respect, Own Your Actions, Always Be Kind, and Ready to Learn) behaviors with your child at home. The consistency will help to instill the values in your child and our partnership is essential in giving a clear and consistent message to all the students. Together we are building a community of Hawks who rise through true partnership and shared purpose.

In Gratitude,

Dr. Fran Hansell

Arrival time no earlier than 8:15 am! Please do not drop off your child early, as there is no supervision. Thank you!

Student Council sponsored food can drive through 11/14/25! Thank you to all of you who have donated food to the drive. Please remember it goes through this FriYay and there is still time to donate. Please deliver to the front office, or your child may take it straight to their classroom. Thanks to Mrs. Rocha and Mrs. DeStefano for overseeing this effort.

Bikes: Thank you for reminding your child to ride their bike safely out the back gate and through the park. It makes it safer for everyone congregating in the park, when all students follow this practice.

Driving: Please make every effort to drive safely in the front parking lot and on neighboring streets. Disrespectful driving behavior and honking horns does not make the traffic go more quickly, We appreciate everyone abiding by our safe and respectful rules of driving conduct in and around school. Taking an extra five minutes for travel time will pay dividends for everyone remaining calm in front of the children. Thank you!

Absent? Please contact the office We encourage you to plan your trips over the scheduled breaks. Please make plans for day trips to Disneyland etc. for the weekend. We all understand how difficult it is when we are absent from work and the same holds true for students.

If your child is suffering from diarrhea or other contagious sickness, please keep them home for 24 hours. Students must be fever, vomit, and diarrhea free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Thank you for adhering to this policy to keep everyone healthy and reduce the spread of sickness at school. We appreciate you making arrangements if your child has to stay home. We also understand the burden this puts on working parents but the policy must be followed.

If your child is absent from school, please report this absence by emailing: Hawesattendance@hbcsd.us or calling the school office at : 714.963.8302 then press 1. THANK YOU for doing all you can to bring your child to school every day and to minimize the amount of time they are absent due to vacations etc. We appreciate you taking trips during non-student days whenever possible.

Independent Study Contracts If your child is going to be absent from school due to vacation/or travel for four (4) or more days, please contact the school office to request an Independent Study Contract. Please understand that we need at least two weeks prior to the start date of the absence in order to prepare materials. Here are some key points to remember:
