Dear Hawes Families,

We are so grateful for our incredible parent volunteers who give their time, energy and heart to make Hawes such a special place. Whether you're helping in classrooms, organizing events, supporting field trips, or lending a hand behind the scenes, your kindness and dedication make a world of difference. Special thanks to Kira, Michelle, and Stephanie for amazing 'Teach or Treats' for teachers and staff on FriYay!

Special thanks for an incredible Bird's-Eye View to Mark and Mary Wilson. Huge thanks to them for loaning their drone and used AI to create breathtaking visuals of our campus during Red Ribbon Week! The creativity and generosity captured the spirit, pride, and unity of our Hawes community from a whole new perspective. We're so grateful for the time and talent in helping us celebrate this special week in such a memorable way!

Special Congratulations to Mrs. Arsenault's class for having the highest percentage for PTSA Classroom Drive ... let's see who gets to host mini stuffie RalphE in their classroom next!

Congratulations to Mrs. DeStefano's class for achieving over 99% Attendance during the second month of school. They narrowly beat out Mrs. Zankich's class with over 98% attendance. I enjoyed supervising an extra ten minutes of recess with the winning class. Thank you for making attendance at school a priority. We appreciate it.

Student Council is sponsoring a canned food drive in partnership with Sowers and Edison ASB.
Please support them by having your child bring in cans to their classroom starting tomorrow - November 3. Let's see if we can fill all the classroom boxes and more during the season of Thanksgiving!

In Gratitude,

Dr. Fran Hansell

If your child is truly sick, please keep them home. Students must be fever, vomit, and diarrhea free for 24 hours prior to returning to school.

If your child is absent from school, please report this absence by emailing: Hawesattendance@hbcsd.us or calling the school office at : 714.963.8302 then press 1.

Independent Study Contracts If your child is going to be absent from school due to vacation/or travel for four (4) or more days, please contact the school office to request an Independent Study Contract. Please understand that we need at least two weeks prior to the start date of the absence in order to prepare materials. Here are some key points to remember:
  • Independent Study Contracts are requested through Monica Jagiello (mjagiello@hbcsd.us) in the office.
  • By law, the maximum number of days for an independent study are 15 days for the entire school year.
  • In order to receive credit for the absence, ALL work must be completed and returned by the due date.
  • Incomplete independent study contracts result in unexcused absences, which could result in a referral to the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB).
