Thank You

Dear Hawes Families,

A huge thank you to our incredible TK team and all the parent volunteers who helped make our TK Monster Mash such a spooktacular success! Your creativity, energy, and teamwork brought so much joy to our littlest Hawks. Events like these shine because of your dedication and heart - thank you for making the magic happen!

Special thanks to TK Monster Mash helpers - Lauren Chandler, Daisy Clarke, Ashley Cogman, Chelsey Crouse, Alexandra Galunke, Jessica Giglio, Brittany Holbrook. Norelao Macapagal, Cherise Minadero, Jennifer Minevich, Srah Moser, Jessica Nerney, Ketherine Nyugen, Thuy Nguyen, Elizabeth Reid, Theresa Richards, Nicole Spoolstra, Erica Swanson, Kim Tran, Linda Tran, Bo Vandenbrink, Kayla Weber, and Bevin Wong.

Red Ribbon Week is here! Lots of wonderful activities this week, culminating in a Spirit Day on Friday 10/31/25 - Crazy Dress-Up Day! We will also be holding a Recognition Assembly at 8:45am by the lunch tables on 10/31/25.

Please note the date change fpor our special Veteran's Day Assembly on Monday November 3, 2025 at 8:45 am. You are welcome to join us in celebrating our country and the people who have served it, from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force. Please invite friends, family and neighbors, who have served or are serving in any branch of the Armed Services.

As a gentle reminder, when coming to campus for a meeting or conference before or after school, please plan for your child to remain at home during that time. The school office is a busy space and not able to provide supervision for students. We appreciate your understanding and partnership in keeping all students safe and ensuring the office remains available for school business and students needs.

PTSA has requested to send a separate message starting this week, as people had mentioned there was a lot of scrolling to do to get the the PTSA messages. You should have received the PTSA weekly message last Thursday, We hope this will help you stay in touch with school happenings and PTSA happenings separately and save on the scrolling you need to do. I will continue to send a scheduled school message every Sunday at 5:00 pm. Thank you for your flexibility with this change,

In Gratitude,

Dr. Fran Hansell

Absent? Please contact the office We encourage you to plan your trips over the scheduled breaks. Please make plans for day trips to Disneyland etc. for the weekend. We all understand how difficult it is when we are absent form work and the same holds true for students.

If your child is truly sick, please keep them home. Students must be fever, vomit, and diarrhea free for 24 hours prior to returning to school.

If your child is absent from school, please report this absence by emailing: Hawesattendance@hbcsd.us or calling the school office at : 714.963.8302 then press 1.

Independent Study Contracts If your child is going to be absent from school due to vacation/or travel for four (4) or more days, please contact the school office to request an Independent Study Contract. Please understand that we need at least two weeks prior to the start date of the absence in order to prepare materials. Here are some key points to remember:
  • Independent Study Contracts are requested through Monica Jagiello (mjagiello@hbcsd.us) in the office.
  • By law, the maximum number of days for an independent study are 15 days for the entire school year.
  • In order to receive credit for the absence, ALL work must be completed and returned by the due date.
  • Incomplete independent study contracts result in unexcused absences, which could result in a referral to the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB).
  • Please be respectful of your teachers and staff
