Hawes Elementary School, home of the Hawks, continued its 50th anniversary celebrations with a time capsule unveiling ceremony that offered a fascinating glimpse into the school’s history. Originally sealed in 1974, the capsule contained cherished items that reflect the school's beginnings and the legacy of the Hawesome Hawks, including:

  • The Program for the Cornerstone Laying Ceremony, marking the school’s founding and its ties to the community.

  • Letters from the District and Huntington Beach Masonic Lodge No. 380, detailing the collaborative efforts behind the school’s cornerstone ceremony.

  • A news article from the Daily Pilot celebrating the naming of the school after Dr. Ralph E. Hawes, a community leader.

  • Pictures of the school’s early construction that symbolize the foundation upon which the campus proudly stands today, and more.

The time capsule was presented during a special assembly by the Huntington Beach Masonic Lodge No. 380, which shared the lodge's history and connection to Hawes Elementary. Students, staff, parents, and community members were invited to witness the unveiling, celebrating the school’s history and spirit that has defined the school for decades.
